Laval Youth Prevention Program
Funded by the Ministère de la Sécurité publique du Québec, the Laval Youth Prevention Program was created to address the problem of sexual exploitation. The Centre d’aide aux victimes d’actes criminels (CAVAC) de Laval, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de Laval, the Service de police de Laval, Mesures alternatives jeunesse de Laval and the Centre de services scolaire de Laval have joined forces to mobilize all the organizations and partners in the region in order to create better support for young people, both in terms of prevention and intervention. The corridor of services
Directory of resources:
In order to define the range of services offered in Laval with regard to sexual exploitation, the Youth Prevention Program met with the various resources in the field in order to list them. First of all, it should be noted that each of the organizations in question is responsible for a much broader mandate than the one for which they were interviewed. All of them are involved in their own way and create a specific space to address this common concern.
The information sheets that emerged from the consultations were designed to identify the specific mandate around sexual exploitation, while quickly positioning the resource within the service corridor or intervention process.
The purpose of this information sheet is not to describe the organization, but rather to identify its specific contribution to providing sexual exploitation services to minor victims and, in a few cases, to adult victims as well.
The directory of resources has standardized each information sheet under certain headings (indicated below) in order to describe the organization’s involvement with the phenomenon of sexual exploitation.
- Mandate and target clientele
- Position in the course of services
- Intervention philosophy
- Case management methods and procedures
- Bilateral agreements or protocols, if applicable
The back of the form provides a few details about the organization’s operational realities in the form of a supplementary note.
Diagram of the course of services
In order to complement the directory of resources, a diagram has been created to represent the range of services and to clearly understand the processes and relationships between the various resources.
The Youth Prevention Program invites you to use these tools to get to know the various resources and to understand their contribution to the phenomenon of sexual exploitation in Laval.
Residents’ involvement
The Laval Youth Prevention Program aims to take a collective stand against the sexual exploitation of minors through the involvement of all Laval residents.
